Zavod considered Justin across the table. His expression was aloof but his eyes shone angrily. “You’re the super. Shouldn’t you be supervising, not auditing?”
“I’m the PM. I manage the project,” scowled Justin. “Look,” he said more calmly, “I couldn’t care less about your weird ideas for this building.”
“Good, because–”
“But I do care about safety. This new overtime push isn’t just going to cost money, it could cost lives.”
“I am authorizing triple time–”
“Authorize hiring. A laborer who falls off a scaffold because he’s sleepwalking can’t spend money.”
“No,” said Zavod. “No more workers.”
Justin left seething.
